Yellow ribbon on the South Bank in London

The fall of the hated Assad regime in Syria has rightfully been celebrated around the world and hundreds of thousands of displaced Syrians have been given hope that they can safely return home. But even the most optimistic commentators are reluctant to suggest that Syria is on the brink of a bright, democratic future. The Islamists who have seized power, led by Muhammad al-Jolani and his organisation Hayat Tahir al-Sham (HTS), have links to Al Queda and ISIS and their ‘inclusive’ rhetoric on taking power shouldn’t fool anyone. Unfortunately, some politicians and journalists do seem quite keen to be fooled and have of course criticised Israel for the military action it has taken in recent weeks. Yet again it seems Israel is fighting single-handedly for civilisation–by using air strikes to take out military hardware and caches of chemical weapons that would otherwise fall into the hands of anti-Semitic extremists. But the anti-Israel bias that seems hardwired into much of the Western media means that Israel has been accused of invading Syria and ‘land grabbing’.

Israel’s military strategy this year has yielded momentous results. Hamas is all but defeated, Hezbollah massively degraded and, as a result, the Iranian regime is on the ropes. The election of tough-talking Trump to the White House is more cause for optimism, but Israel remains vulnerable to attacks from Iran and its proxy armies as well as the new regime in Syria.

It is as vital as ever that we at Our Fight challenge the deranged anti-Israel prejudice of our government, the UN, the BBC and other media, as well as groups such as the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. We will spend 2025 exposing the lies of our opponents and building support amongst ordinary British people for the Jewish state, which is fighting relentlessly for the values we believe in.

We plan to publish this newsletter more regularly in 2025. We welcome information about upcoming events around the country, as well as submissions, such as suggestions for activities and original articles for publication.

Best wishes over the festive period and see you in the New Year!

Recent Activities

CAA March Against Anti-Semitism

On 8 December, a cold wet day in Central London, Our Fight joined more than 30,000 marchers against anti-Semitism and our very own Mark Birbeck was invited to give the final, rousing speech, which you can watch here:

South Africa House and March to Parliament Square

And the following Saturday we gathered outside South Africa House together with Stop The Hate before marching to Parliament Square. Mark spoke at the gathering about the need to challenge South Africa’s outrageous slur of ‘genocide’ against the Jewish state and Ireland’s attempt to redefine and degrade the meaning of genocide:

Mark noted that next year will be the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and Our Fight intends to remind everyone that the Holocaust was humanity's darkest time, and its proper memory is crucial to the preservation of our civilisation and its values.

Media Exposure

You can hear Mark Birbeck on last week’s Jonny Gould’s Jewish State podcast, talking about why Our Fight is so important:

Upcoming Activities

We have nothing scheduled during the festive break, but some of our members were leafleting at Christmas markets in London last week, on the 8th anniversary of the Islamist terror attack on a Berlin Christmas market that left 13 dead and many more injured.

Save the Date

Saturday 18 January 2025: we will be making a noise at the next ‘pro-Palestine’ March in London.

Early February 2025: we are planning a day-school and other activities around Holocaust Memorial Day, and the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
